Any personally identifiable information submitted to the City of Kirkland’s public records portal is subject to disclosure in accordance with the Washington State Public Records Act, Chapter 42.56 RCW.

• Please do not include social security numbers, birth dates and other sensitive private information when you are describing the records you are requesting; information in that data field is publicly available on the web. You can always call us either before or after submitting your request to explain the parameters of your request and provide more detail if it is relevant to the search.
• You are not required to explain your situation or why you want the records you are requesting; however, please do tell us if you have a pending deadline. Though we may not always be able to help you meet it, we will try.
• It is helpful if you can be as specific as possible in describing the records you want (dates/timeframes if known, addresses, parcel numbers, staff who may have been involved) so we can be precise in conducting the search (equals quicker response time) and find exactly what it is you are looking for.
• When creating your portal account, including a telephone number where we can reach you is appreciated to help us provide you with the best assistance (in case we have trouble understanding exactly what you need).
• Your address and phone number are not published to the external web. If needed, you will be contacted through your portal account or by phone for additional information in order to clarify/identify the records you are seeking.
• If you have reasons for requiring anonymity in submitting your request, call or come in and we can help you manage that.
